Tamás Melkovics is interested in the interplay of origin and development, transformation and permanence. The exhibition opening in the Ferenczy Museum in spring 2022 will also focus on growth, development and self-reflection. The artist's experimentation with sculptural form is a search for modular shapes that can be integrated into more complex compositions. The variability of the assemblages of the individual modules implies the infinite possibility of elements unfolding from one another. The complex forms thus created, sometimes organic, sometimes anthropomorphic, set off a free chain of associations for the recipient. The ever-changing juxtaposition of permanent elements can be experienced both in his sculptures and in his prints. The exhibition traces the interplay between his early experiments in form and his most recent work. His large-scale sculptures are created without a predetermined arrangement, through an act of artistic intervention in the moment, to create final sculptural forms. New works and new dimensions of interpretation are created through recompositions. The exhibition is a kind of history of development, a summary of the artist's formal experimentation. Through his creations, we can gain an in-depth insight into the linear continuity of his research, an artistic thought that is characterised by both playfulness and rigorous intellectuality, by the diversity of interpretative possibilities, by the tension between permanence and constant change.
